BETA-CALCO’S MULTI-YEAR ACCESSIBILITY PLAN

BETA-CALCO’S MULTI-YEAR ACCESSIBILITY PLAN

Beta-Calco’s multi-year accessibility plan is intended to outline and identify the policies, processes, and plans the company currently has in place, is in the process of developing and/or implementing or intends to develop and/or implement in response to the requirements established by the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulations (IASR)

Statement of Commitment

Beta-Calco is committed to providing excellent service, promoting diversity, while respecting the dignity and independence of persons with disabilities.  We are committed to ensuring compliance with the accessibility requirements contained in the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 and its regulations. Although the AODA applies only within Ontario, Beta-Calco recognizes the value of eliminating barriers for persons with disabilities and will therefore generally apply the same policies and practices wherever Beta-Calco deems it reasonable to do so.

The Integrated Accessibility Standards, Regulation 191/11 ("IASR") under the AODA establishes standards to address barriers that persons with disabilities face in the areas of information and communications, employment and the design of public spaces. Beta-Calco’s goal is to comply with the requirements under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005, and ensure the standards and laws under it are met so the accessibility needs of persons with disabilities can be addressed in a timely manner.

The AODA’s key principles of integration, equality, dignity and independence will be applied regardless of whether the individual is:

  • Working within or visiting our office
  • Accessing our information
  • Procuring our services and support online or via our phone-in services

Beta-Calco is dedicated to meeting the needs of individuals with disabilities in a timely manner. We are committed to working with the necessary parties to make accessibility a reality for all.

Accessible Emergency Information

Beta-Calco will provide employees, contractors or consultants with disabilities with individualized emergency response information where necessary, in accordance with AODA. The organization will ensure that as part of on-boarding and health and safety training processes, individualized emergency response information will be provided according to the needs of staff.

Training

Beta-Calco will ensure that training is provided to employees, contractors or consultants who deal with the public or other third parties on their behalf, persons involved in developing accessibility policies and other staff as required by AODA.  Beta-Calco will also ensure that our management team is trained and aware of AODA guidelines.

The content and duration of the training will be determined based on the job duties of each individual employee.   Records of the dates of training and the number of participants/attendees to whom it was provided will be maintained to ensure all employees are educated on accessibility laws and requirements.

Kiosks

Information and Communications

Beta-Calco will provide information and communications in an accessible format in a timely manner.   Beta-Calco will develop practices to ensure that information is accessible to individuals with disabilities upon request and in consultation with the person making the request.  Where information or communications cannot be provided in an accessible format or with communication support and it is not technically feasible, Beta-Calco will provide an explanation for why the information or communication cannot be provided in an accessible format. The Beta-Calco website meets the Level A requirements under international standards WCAG 2.0 (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines).

Employment

Beta-Calco is committed to ensuring that the recruitment and selection process removes any barriers that may prevent or hinder job applicants and employees with disabilities, including indicating the availability of accommodation throughout the process as stated on our website. Employment details will be made available in accessible formats or with communication support, as required by law.  As part of the accommodation process, Beta-Calco will take into account the accessibility needs of employees with disabilities when considering career development, performance management and redeployment.

Design of Public Spaces

Beta-Calco current offices meet the Accessibility standards for the design of public spaces.  Currently Beta-Calco continues to meet the Accessibility standards when involved in any undertaking of new construction and redevelopment of public spaces.
