Beta Lighting's North American division is established as Beta-Calco, beginning with a 2,000 sq ft office. Within the same year, they experience rapid growth, leading to an expansion to an 8,000 sq ft facility.

2003

Beta-Calco ascends to the role of the new headquarters, expanding to an impressive 26,000 sq ft.

2007

Earns the Best Booth Award at Lightfair, showcasing not just products but a commitment to excellence in presentation.

2012

Receives the PIA Award for Xacara, recognizing outstanding design and innovation.

2016

Clinches another PIA Award, this time for Rail-lite, reinforcing Beta-Calco's commitment to cutting-edge solutions.

2019

Beta-Calco inaugurates their Linear Lighting category with the launch of Le Louvre, featuring a distinctive louvre design that sets a new standard in linear product design.

2020

Receives the LIT Award for the innovative Le Louvre, acknowledging its brilliance in lighting product design.

2021

Beta-Calco moves into its current 79,000 sq ft facility.

2021

Secures the LIT Award for Ooooh Ring, adding another accolade to the list of lighting excellence.

2022

Garners the LIT Award for Rodeo, solidifying Beta-Calco's position as a beacon of innovation in the lighting industry.

Beta-Calco’s journey is one of innovation and expansion. We trace our roots back to the remarkable vision and entrepreneurial spirit of Abram Aronovsky, a multilingual electrical engineer who established Beta Lighting in Bradford, England in 1943.

One notable achievement came with the introduction of low-energy lighting. Beta Lighting's dedication to energy efficiency and innovative design garnered them the first-place award in the Standard Lamp (S.L.) Commercial category of the S.L. Philips Energy Luminaire Competition. Their award-winning luminaire was selected to replace traditional downlights in the prestigious Barbican Center in London, showcasing Beta Lighting's commitment to cutting-edge lighting solutions.

In the late 1980s, Abram Aronovsky retired, leaving behind a legacy of innovation and excellence. David Silver, who joined the company in the 1970s, assumed responsibility for expanding sales beyond domestic borders. Utilizing his deep understanding of the industry and building on Beta Lighting's success at home, David focused on establishing and strengthening business relationships across Europe and Asia.

During this period, the lighting industry underwent a significant shift with the advent of compact fluorescent lamps and a rising demand for energy-saving lighting solutions. David's strategic efforts were key in positioning Beta Lighting at the forefront of this change.

Recognizing the immense potential in the North American market, Beta Lighting set up its North American facility named Beta-Calco, an abbreviation for Beta - Commercial Architectural Lighting Company.

The next generation of leadership under Remy Silver, steered the company towards unprecedented success. His intrinsic design intuition and forward-looking mindset, succeeding the company’s legacy, catapulted Beta-Calco into a realm of pioneering LED lighting solutions. Within seven years, Remy turned the Beta-Calco satellite office into the new headquarters of the Beta brand.

Under Remy's stewardship, Beta-Calco flourished by consistently predicting upcoming trends, staying ahead of industry shifts, and pushing the limits of what was conceivable in product design. As Beta-Calco’s growth persisted, Remy reinforced its standing as a global innovator and fortified its position at the forefront of the ever-evolving lighting landscape.
